Hello, Gem. How’s your heart? I pray it’s thriving. Let me tell you what’s been on mine.

Dealing with Burnout x K.M.

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion, typically occurring when you are constantly under stress. It can happen to anyone, regardless of their profession or lifestyle, and it’s exhausting, Gem—one of the worst brain farts you’ll ever endure. If you are feeling burnt out, it is important to take action to regain control of your life and well-being. I’ve compiled some tips and strategies that can help us both. Fingers crossed that we apply them before burnout takes over.

Recognize the signs of burnout. Recognizing the signs is the first step to confronting and working on anything. Regarding burnout, the symptoms include feeling exhausted, irritable, or overwhelmed. It’s possible you can be having trouble sleeping and feel disconnected from others. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please take them seriously and seek help in whatever capacity you think is necessary and will benefit you.

Take time off. Taking time off is one of the most effective ways to rejuvenate yourself and deal with burnout. This can be a vacation, a day off, or even just a few hours to yourself. Use this time to do something you enjoy, whether reading a book, playing a video game, completing a puzzle, taking a walk, or spending time with loved ones, and the list continues. Gem, do something that feels good and refreshing to the soul.

Practice self-care, period, because you f%c#ing deserve it. Self-care is essential for preventing and managing burnout. This can include exercise, healthy eating, getting enough sleep, and practicing mindfulness or meditation. Make self-care a priority in your life and take steps to incorporate it into your daily routine.

Set Boundaries. Setting boundaries is vital for maintaining your well-being. Gem, no matter how much it hurts you, saying no to additional responsibilities, limiting work hours, and avoiding activities or relationships that drain your energy is okay. Be clear and assertive about your boundaries; don't be afraid to enforce them.

Don’t forget to seek support. Talk to a trusted friend, family member, or therapist about what you're going through. Joining a support group or seeking professional help can also be beneficial. I know this is one of the most complex steps. Opening up about what’s going on with your heart, mind, and soul is a vulnerable and intense experience. However, the outcome can help you tremendously.

Overall, dealing with burnout is challenging, but it’s possible to regain control of your life and well-being. By recognizing the signs, taking time off, practicing self-care, setting boundaries, and seeking the genuine support and guidance you deserve, you can overcome burnout and find balance in your life.

You got this, Gem. After all, you are an immense treasure!

Until next time, I’m sending you lots of love. - K.M.
