Hello, Gem. How’s your heart? I pray it’s thriving. Let me tell you what’s been on mine.

Navigating Unreciprocated Feelings x K.M.

★

Feeling like you invest more in your relationships than you receive can be challenging, and also, let’s be honest with ourselves, it can be as painful as ever. It's not uncommon to question whether others truly appreciate your efforts, kindness, and consideration. However, Gem, while we’re on the road to becoming the best version of ourselves, we must explore strategies to navigate our emotions and foster healthier connections.

Reflecting on our own expectations and communication skills is vital. Are your needs and boundaries clear to others? Understanding our desires and expressing them effectively can set the stage for more balanced relationships. As we always try to remind you here: people are not mind readers, which is very unfortunate sometimes, we know. Everyone goes around reciting that ‘communication is key’, and that’s facts. But how many of us are truly implementing that factor in our relationships? It could save us from a lot of heartache and misunderstanding in the end.

Please work on initiating honest conversations with those you feel distant from (especially if you cherish the connection and want it to last). Share your feelings openly, allowing space for them to also express themselves. Effective communication is the key to resolving misunderstandings and building stronger connections.

Recognize that everyone has different ways of expressing care and consideration. People may not always reciprocate in the same manner you do, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't value your presence in their lives.

Everyone doesn’t love and move like us, Gem. Simply because they aren’t us; we’re all different.

Furthermore, you need to ensure you're taking care of your own well-being. Invest time in things that bring you joy and fulfillment, independent of external validation. Self-nurturing can lead to a more resilient mindset in navigating unbalanced relationships.

Oftentimes, we’ve been hurt several times and deem ourselves ‘traumatized.’ But that ‘no new friends’ mindset won’t help us feel better. It only makes us feel more lonely than before. Expand your social circles and foster relationships with individuals who appreciate your efforts. Diversifying your connections can provide a broader perspective on how people express their care and consideration. Don’t you want to find your tribe—a group of like-minded people who honor, love, and appreciate you? It all starts with being open to meeting and building with others.

Building meaningful connections takes time. Be patient and allow your relationships to evolve naturally. Rushing or expecting immediate reciprocity may create unnecessary tension.

Be open.

Remain honest.

Stay genuine.

Shift your perspective by acknowledging the positive aspects of your relationships. Recollect the times when others have shown appreciation, even in subtle ways. Focusing on gratitude can help balance your outlook. But most of all, know when to let go. Please understand and accept when you have outgrown a connection or drained yourself of trying to improve it without reciprocation.

The bottom line is that feeling unconsidered in relationships can be disheartening, but by incorporating self-reflection and open communication, you can navigate these emotions better.

Remember, building fulfilling connections is a continuous journey, and with patience and effort, you can foster more balanced and healthier relationships in your life.

Until next time, I’m sending you lots of love. - K.M.
