Greetings, Gem. I pray you’re well, and with that, I hope you’ve been taking the time to relish all your hard work and progress. Let’s get into it!
Celebrate Yourself x Shanice
Let me start off by saying, I’m not here to give you a lecture or make you feel bad about failing to toot your own horn as much as you deserve to. However, piggybacking off the latter, I am here to encourage you to toot your own horn more… and more!
SheIsTreasure turned one today. A year ago, on this day, I published my first blog on the site and began sharing the link with my friends, loved ones, and supporters. Only a couple of people knew that I’d been plotting the idea for years. I didn’t know how I would start it, where I would begin, or how I wanted the site to look. Gem, I didn’t have a site name, any clear ideas on a logo, branding techniques, nothing! At the rate I was going, I’d never have a blog site. All I knew was, as a woman, I wanted to uplift and empower strong yet flawed women like myself.
Then, boom… when I least expected it—I’m sure it was in the shower or while I was half-asleep—reminding women that they are treasured gems popped up in my head. From there, She Is Treasure came together for me.
Gem, at the time, I had no idea how far I would take this. I wasn’t even sure how long I would stick with it. All I knew was, this was my baby! My passion project! A lifesaver and outlet for me when I’m feeling low and defeated. Here we are a year later; I’m so proud of myself for not wavering on what I love and enjoy doing.
Now, please understand that although I acknowledge that I wanted to and could’ve done more in a year’s time with the site, I realize that the energy I gave and the blog contributions from my amazing peers were timeless and more than enough. Simply put, SheIsTreasure is off to a great start! It makes me so excited for what’s to come and hyped to keep going.
Gem, don’t laugh at how unsure and hesitant I sounded in the video I’m about to share with you. But listen to me a year ago on October 30th, 2021, talk about the site. Like always, I was full of passion, but I have to admit that I was super nervous about publishing the site and sharing it with the world.
Like I mentioned in my Facebook celebratory post, it’s important for us to do what we love. Even when we feel no one cares, no one’s supporting, no one’s watching, and the list continues. Who cares what they think; you are more powerful than you know and at your best when you are doing what you love. Continue to thrive in your golden areas; the world needs your distinctive light, I promise!
Happy one-year anniversary to SheIsTreasure. Best of all, thank you for supporting us and our heartfelt blogs.
Sending you good vibrations and immense love. -S
